With passionate cheers and tremendous support despite the pandemic, the search for the long-awaited Mr. and Ms. CAS 2021 officially starts through the approval of the Council of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Monday, August 30, 2021.

Mr. and Ms. CAS is one of the main events held annually prepared by the Council of Liberal Arts and Sciences students, an avenue where chosen representatives under the CAS Department showcase their charm, talent, and wit to students and staff alike.

The Council has already released the form where aspiring candidates can register if ever they wish to, where they have also reminded everyone to provide all necessary information in order to avoid complications in the process.

Eleven (11) participants are expected to join from both male and female categories coming from different degree programs, nine candidates have already passed their submissions as of last night.

The deadline of submissions for the candidates' applications for the event is on September 5, 2021 at exactly 11:59 p.m.

This year's Mr. and Ms. CAS will be held virtually to follow safety protocols, but the Council has been working hard to make the event anything but ordinary.

"We have done a lot of preparation to be able to say that even though it will be virtual, this will be a memorable event for Liberals," said Council of Liberal Arts and Sciences Governor John Peter Apuhin.

Several segments are in store for the audience, including the candidates' production number, runway, evening gown & formal wear, advocacy speech, and the Q&A portion.

The Council will meet the various organization mayors and block chairpersons this coming Friday, September 3, at 3:00 p.m. for consultation and discussion regarding the event and address all their questions and clarifications.

When asked about what hardships and challenges he and his fellow councilmen encountered in preparation for the pageant, Apuhin stated the main challenges they faced are getting students to become candidates and attaining sponsorships and partnerships.

The official logo and overall theme of the pageant has already been finalized and published by the Council on their Facebook page for the audience to see.

Governor Apuhin also mentioned about how the previous Mr. and Ms. CAS was held last 2019, where the pandemic hasn't struck yet.

"We didn't have the event last year because of the pandemic and the council had to focus on more important programs to cater the students' concerns on the onset of the pandemic. But now we're back in full force as we are adapting in the new normal and the council wants to show again the mantra of truth and beauty," Apuhin noted.

Prizes will be given out to the winning candidates, but the Council has decided not to disclose the exact details, just that they will surely be receiving sashes and certificates.

The pageant will be broadcasted live on September 24, at exactly 7:00 p.m. on the Council's Facebook page.

Reigning Mr. CAS Kim Matthew Abapo and reigning Ms. CAS Alekka Kwensley Cabalhug will also be present and have special parts as they will be the ones to turn over the crowns to the winners.
